Miscellanea: Lots of significant websites for any English learners to engage in English context anytime and anywhere.

There are different kinds of level of English proficiency. A language teacher depends on learners’ proficiency to choose one of the films. Then, after practicing, a teacher could design activities, such as dubbing, role play, or public speech, to check learners’ learning effects.

While we are recording the lines in the movie, we can just know the correct pronunciation of each word.  However, it would be hard for some basic students to know what’s wrong with their pronunciation.

There are many talk shows, speeches, or academic courses which are presented by many celebrities. A teacher could choose one topic which corresponds to students’ English level. Then, ask students to practice and preview at home. Next, after lecturing what the speech talks about, students should have the same speech to show their speaking ability.
However, the only drawback of the website is that the films in the website aren’t categorized into different English proficiency. Most of the films are just suitable for high-intermediate learners. It would be a hard work for teachers to find an appropriate film for high school students to enjoy. What’s more, not each film has subtitles with it. It would make students feel struggling when they are listening some advanced speeches.

3. Xtranormal: http://www.xtranormal.com/
Students could create their own movies, including their own actors, actress, plot, or lines. After choosing their movie’s background and players, students have to record their own dialogues to create their own stories. Teachers could also have the learners have a role play activity based on the story or movie.
However, there only problem is that students may encounter a technique problem. It may be too time-consuming for some basic language learners to make a movie just for practicing speaking English.

4. English attack: http://tw.english-attack.com/
It’s a website about movie making and picture material making. A teacher could make their own teaching material related to their topic, if there is no the best materials for the teacher. From the movie clip, or the picture vocabulary, teachers could integrate some grammar patterns and voabulary in the film. In the activity, students need to read out loud the vacabulary beased on the pictues they see. Then, about the movie film, students need to summarize what they see integrating the sentence patterns they learned. It would be a nice chance for them to train their speaking and listening proficiency.
The drawbacks of the website is that it’s not free and time-consuming. The technique problem is worth to be solved. It would be not so practical for learners to make their own movies at home just because of learning English. Also, for some abstract words, it’s impossible to show students their meaning with pictures. Therefore, teachers just can teach some concrete vocabulary.

It’s a news website includes the US and British news. The website offers audio reports for learners to listen. What’s more, the website offers vocabulary learning column, which contains English-English expanations. Language teacher could ask students to listen and practice at home, and at school, teachers could hold an activity. In the activity, students need to dub the news as the assessment.
It’s a pity that the website doesn’t include every kind of news. Not each of the news has audio source to let students listen, either. What’s worse, for a language learner, learners just can listen to the pronunciation and sound. But, it would be a flaw for learners to correct their problems at home.
